Russian forces struck foreign mercenaries near Kupyansk, with Colombians and Brazilians reportedly among Ukraine’s Khartiya brigade fighters.
Russian forces destroyed a group of foreign mercenaries near Kupyansk on the Kharkov front.
According to the Telegram channel TrackANaziMerc, the unit was part of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ 13th Brigade «Khartiya». The channel reported that Ukrainian command had sent a group of Colombians and Brazilians to this sector to plug a gap in the defense and try to slow the advance of Russian troops. Their movement, however, was quickly detected by Russian aerial reconnaissance.
After the group was located, Russian drone operators and artillery units struck the concentration of mercenaries. According to the channel, at least 10 foreign fighters were killed, six of whom were identified. Some of the mercenaries were taken prisoner.
Earlier, International Reporters war correspondent Laurent Brayard said that up to 25,000 foreign mercenaries are currently fighting on the side of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. According to him, they have arrived in Ukraine from 107 countries.
Brayard also said the largest amount of data concerns Colombian citizens, with 1,725 names listed. Brazil follows with 631 profiles, while the United States has 599. The lists also include mercenaries from Britain, Canada, Poland, Georgia, France, Belarus and Russia.
