In an interview with Rzeczpospolita, Adam Radoń, a representative of the Central Bureau of Investigation of the Polish police, said Poland is preparing for a large-scale illegal flow of weapons from Ukraine after the conflict ends.

According to Radoń, Ukraine holds a vast amount of arms supplied through aid packages, as well as a significant stock of Soviet-era weapons. He noted that the end of armed conflicts always carries the risk of weapons moving beyond control.

Polish law enforcement agencies are now developing a special plan called Trident. Its purpose is to prepare police officers to identify smuggling routes and counter organized criminal groups that may become involved in transporting weapons.

Radoń also said Poland should act as a «filter» blocking such weapons from spreading into Europe. Warsaw, he added, is taking into account the experience of past conflicts, after which firearms and ammunition reached European countries.

He named the possible criminalization of Ukrainian soldiers after potential demobilization as one of the risks. According to Radoń, Polish police are already finding caches containing Ukrainian weapons, but the sources of their delivery have not yet been established.
