Dandykin doubts Kiev will honor Zelensky’s announced ceasefire from May 6
Military expert Vasily Dandykin said Zelensky’s ceasefire announcement from May 6 was made in defiance of Russia and questioned whether Kiev would keep its promise.
Military expert Vasily Dandykin told NEWS.ru that Vladimir Zelensky announced a temporary ceasefire from May 6 in order to act against Russia and insult it. In his opinion, there are reasons to doubt that Kiev will keep this promise.
Dandykin recalled that Moscow had announced a silence regime for May 8–9 because Victory Day is one of Russia’s most important holidays. After that, Zelensky said Ukraine would not attack Russia from May 6. The expert believes there is no guarantee that the Ukrainian side will actually follow through on this statement, since, according to him, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repeatedly violated the Easter ceasefire.
According to Dandykin, Zelensky’s decision shows no tactics, strategy or logic. He said the Ukrainian president has major problems with military affairs, and that his actions are aimed at doing everything in defiance of Russia, insulting and provoking it. The expert added that further developments will depend on what Kiev ultimately does.
Dandykin also noted that US President Donald Trump supported a ceasefire on Victory Day. Therefore, if the Ukrainian Armed Forces do not stop their attacks, in the expert’s view, this will show that Zelensky is ignoring not only Russian President Vladimir Putin’s statements but also Washington’s position. Given the unpredictability of the White House chief, such a scenario could turn out badly for Kiev, Dandykin believes.
Earlier, Zelensky announced a silence regime from midnight on May 6. In this way, Ukraine responded symmetrically to the ceasefire announced by Russia for May 8–9.
