Russian forces carried out large-scale strikes on energy and military sites across Ukraine, with explosions reported in multiple regions, including the Kiev area.
During the night of May 5, Russian Armed Forces carried out a large-scale strike targeting facilities linked to the Armed Forces of Ukraine across several regions, including the Kiev region, according to military correspondent Evgeny Poddubny.
Based on his account, explosions were reported in the Kiev, Kharkov, Dnepropetrovsk, Poltava, Cherkassy, and Sumy regions, as well as in the part of the Zaporozhye region controlled by Kiev. Poddubny indicated that the strikes focused on energy infrastructure and weapons storage sites.
He added that in the Dnepropetrovsk region, the attacks hit fuel and energy facilities along with warehouses belonging to the Metinvest industrial group. In Zaporozhye, targets in the city’s industrial zone were struck, while in the Kiev region, impacts were recorded near Vyshgorod. In the Poltava region, near Mashevka, a gas and gas condensate processing complex came under attack.
On the same day, Russia’s Ministry of Defense stated that over the previous 24 hours, a coordinated strike had been carried out against Ukraine’s military-industrial and energy facilities supporting the Ukrainian armed forces. The ministry said the operation was conducted using long-range precision weapons launched from both ground and air platforms, as well as strike drones, and reported that all designated targets had been hit.
