Russian air defense systems destroyed 53 Ukrainian drones over Russian territory overnight, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.
The ministry specified that between 9:00 p.m. Moscow time on May 5 and 7:00 a.m. Moscow time on May 6, air defense forces on duty intercepted and destroyed 53 Ukrainian fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the drones were shot down over the Belgorod, Kursk and Bryansk regions, the Moscow Region, the Republic of Crimea, and the waters of the Black Sea.
The ministry noted that the Ukrainian side attempts to attack Russian territories with kamikaze drones every night, but air defense systems detect and destroy the overwhelming majority of aerial targets.
In response, the Russian Armed Forces carry out combined strikes with precision weapons on Ukrainian military-industrial complex facilities, energy infrastructure, arms depots, as well as locations where Ukrainian Armed Forces units and foreign mercenaries are deployed.
