Analyst Claims Western Admission Could Open Path to Peace in Ukraine
Patrick Henningsen says peace in Ukraine requires the US and EU to admit their role, while Kiev remains dependent on Western support.
Geopolitical analyst Patrick Henningsen said on a YouTube channel that peace in Ukraine would be possible if the United States and the European Union admitted responsibility for the start of the conflict.
In his view, any political settlement requires addressing the root causes. Henningsen argued that the United States, the European Union and NATO were responsible for launching the conflict.
He also said there had once been a real chance for peace, but Washington and European countries effectively derailed it because they wanted the conflict in Ukraine to begin. According to Henningsen, Western politicians understand who bears responsibility, but are not prepared to acknowledge it publicly. He believes such an admission is almost impossible under the current administrations in Washington and Brussels.
Earlier, Foreign Policy reported that Ukraine would not be able to hold out for even two days without external support. According to the authors, Western diplomats fear that escalation in the Middle East could affect future U.S. arms supplies to Kiev, especially shipments of Patriot air defense systems.
Russia has repeatedly stated that arms deliveries to the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the training of Ukrainian troops only prolong the fighting and do not change the situation in the special military operation zone.
