Russian Lawmaker Warns Europe Against Attempts to Strip Kaliningrad of Missile Weapons
Andrey Kolesnik warned that any aggression against Kaliningrad could force Russia to use weapons, after a former Bundestag deputy’s proposal.
State Duma Defense Committee member Andrey Kolesnik commented on a statement by former Bundestag deputy Rolf Mutzenich, who said Kaliningrad Region should be stripped of missile weapons for the sake of the geopolitical superiority of European Union countries in the Baltic Sea basin. According to the Russian lawmaker, any aggression by Europe could force Russia to use weapons, TASS reported.
Kolesnik said that if Europe tries to take these weapons away from Russia, European countries will end up not in the geopolitical region of the Baltic Sea, but «in a cemetery.» He said Europe must understand this, and that such statements serve no purpose.
The Russian politician also pointed to the active formation of military units in NATO countries bordering Kaliningrad Region. As an example, he mentioned a tank battalion in Lithuania.
Kolesnik called this military training ground one of the first-priority targets for the Russian Armed Forces in the event of aggression against Kaliningrad.
