Political analyst Aleksandr Asafov said mobilization in Ukraine is being carried out not only through direct measures, but also through the gradual expansion of rules already in place. According to him, this line pursued by the Kiev regime has not changed.
He noted that the possible conscription of women and a reduction in the draft age have long been discussed in Ukraine. Asafov cited the «Contract 18–24» initiative, cuts to draft exemptions and the introduction of additional conditions for different groups of the population as examples of how mobilization rules are being broadened.
The analyst did not rule out that Kiev may soon try to extend mobilization efforts to citizens currently living abroad, including in Poland and other EU countries.
Asafov, cited by Lenta.ru, said the authorities were unlikely to act openly because of the risk of further social tension. In his view, they would instead move indirectly, creating conditions that would allow such demands to be met.
He also believes Germany has received a similar signal and has already started moving in that direction. According to Asafov, Berlin may use different tools to meet Kiev’s potential requirements.
Earlier, Western media reported that European countries could tie the provision of multibillion-dollar financial assistance to Ukraine to a reduction in the draft age.
