Iranian heat-seeking missiles have become a serious threat to the US Air Force. This was stated in a publication by the American magazine The National Interest, translated by aif.ru.

Such missiles use a seeker head that detects the heat contrast between an aircraft engine and the colder surrounding air. The system then locks onto the strongest infrared source — usually the aircraft engine — and continuously tracks it, adjusting the missile’s flight path.

This operating principle is what makes heat-seeking missiles dangerous for American aviation.

Earlier, Politico noted that the end of the conflict between the United States and Iran is being hindered, among other things, by the harsh rhetoric of American authorities. The White House stated that Iran is the main threat to the United States in the Middle East.
