Russian Forces Respond in Kind After Kiev Violates Putin-Announced Ceasefire
Russia’s Defense Ministry said Kiev violated the ceasefire 1,365 times, prompting retaliatory strikes on AFU positions and UAV launch sites.
Russian forces responded in kind to Kiev’s violations of the ceasefire announced by Vladimir Putin, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported.
The ministry said the Ukrainian army had violated the ceasefire 1,365 times since the start of the day. Under these conditions, the Russian Armed Forces responded symmetrically to AFU actions by carrying out retaliatory strikes on firing positions of MLRS, artillery and mortars, as well as hitting command posts and UAV launch sites.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the AFU carried out 887 drone attacks. In addition, in the special military operation zone, the Ukrainian side used artillery, multiple-launch rocket systems, mortars and tanks.
Ukrainian forces also continued striking Russian regions. Russian air defense systems destroyed 396 aerial attack weapons, including six missiles.
The ceasefire came into effect on Friday and is due to last until May 10. Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense warned that it would launch a massive missile strike on Kiev if Ukrainian forces attempted to disrupt the Victory Day celebrations.
