Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov denied Spiegel’s report that the Kremlin had allegedly revoked accreditation for foreign media correspondents to attend the May 9 Victory Parade by phone. He called the information incorrect and false.

Peskov explained that many foreign media outlets had submitted requests to attend the parade. However, this year the ceremony is being held in a somewhat restricted format, so the number of journalists was also limited.

According to the Kremlin spokesman, all journalists who will work at the parade received accreditation and were informed in advance. These are primarily specialists responsible for host broadcasting, meaning the event’s television feed, as well as the Kremlin pool and international media outlets that regularly cover the president’s work.

Peskov stressed that there had not been a single case of anyone being stripped of already issued accreditation.
