Expert Warns Tomahawk Missile Supplies to Ukraine Threaten Moscow-Washington Relations

Military expert Yuri Knutov says Tomahawk deliveries to Ukraine could target civilian sites and strain US-Russia ties, though Moscow has air defense countermeasures.
Deliveries of American Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine would not improve relations between Moscow and Washington, Russian military analyst Yuri Knutov told aif.ru.
He warned that the greatest danger lies in the potential use of these missiles not only against military sites but also against civilian infrastructure, such as residential areas and energy facilities. Strikes of this kind, Knutov explained, are designed to generate public shock and pressure the Russian leadership into accepting peace on Kyiv’s terms.
According to him, the deployment of Tomahawks will hardly contribute to strengthening ties between Russia and the United States.
Knutov also stressed that Russia possesses countermeasures against these missiles, pointing to electronic warfare systems and advanced air defense. He singled out the S-300V4 surface-to-air missile complex as an example of effective protection.
Earlier, Vladimir Zelensky reportedly asked Donald Trump at a closed-door meeting at the United Nations to provide Ukraine with long-range Tomahawk missiles. U. S. Vice President J. D. Vance told Fox News that the Trump administration is considering supplying them to Kyiv through NATO member states.
