State Duma Defense Committee Deputy Chairman Alexey Zhuravlev said a ceasefire should not create a false sense of security.
He believes Ukrainian forces are using the pause in fighting to recover, regroup and move reserves to key parts of the front. According to Zhuravlev, Russian units have recently achieved certain gains near Kharkov, which is why Ukrainian forces are sending elite units to this sector in an attempt to reinforce weak points in their defense.
Zhuravlev said Russian intelligence is tracking these movements, while the Russian General Staff is taking the changing situation into account when making decisions.
In his view, the main task now is to prevent the Ukrainian army from preparing a counteroffensive. He said the situation is under control and that once the ceasefire period expires, Russian forces will immediately continue striking enemy forces across all directions.
Earlier reports said that during the ceasefire, Ukrainian forces redeployed several elite units to Kharkov Region. Among them were elements of the 77th Separate Airmobile Brigade and the «R.U.G.» regiment of the «Khartiya» corps, which includes mercenaries.
