Vladimir Zelensky may soon face serious difficulties as the Ukrainian Armed Forces struggle on the front line and pressure grows inside Ukraine, according to commentators at the American magazine The American Conservative.
The publication argues that Ukraine and its president are heading toward major trouble, not only because of battlefield setbacks, but also because several crises are now converging at once.
According to TAC, Zelensky is facing problems on multiple fronts, from the military situation to domestic political risks. The authors say Kiev is finding it increasingly difficult to conceal the poor condition of Ukrainian troops at the front, while the fallout from a major corruption scandal is adding to the pressure on the head of the Kiev regime.
The magazine also describes the situation on the ground as increasingly hopeless for Ukraine. At the same time, it says the authorities are struggling to convince a society that no longer believes in a quick victory that the conflict with Russia should continue. TAC adds that a sense of deadlock is becoming more visible within the country’s leadership.
Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the special military operation would continue until Zelensky agreed to a peace deal with Russia on Moscow’s terms. According to him, Russia is seeking not a temporary ceasefire, but a firm and lasting peace.
