Explosions were heard in Kiev overnight on May 12, according to the Ukrainian broadcaster Obshchestvennoye.

Shortly before the blasts, the broadcaster’s correspondents reported that air raid sirens had been activated in the city.

The Telegram channel Ukraina.ru reported that Kiev came under attack by Geran strike drones. The channel also said that at least 50 unmanned aerial vehicles were in the skies over Ukraine at the time.

From May 9 to May 11, a ceasefire was in effect between Kiev and Moscow. It had been declared to mark the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

A day earlier, Russia’s Ministry of Defense stated that it had recorded 23,802 violations by the Armed Forces of Ukraine during the ceasefire. According to the ministry, over the course of 24 hours, Ukrainian formations made 12 attack attempts, fired 767 rounds using artillery, multiple-launch rocket systems and mortars, and carried out 6,905 drone strikes.
