Ukrainian authorities are spending about $450 million for every day of combat operations, according to an estimate given by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrey Sibiga.

Based on that figure, journalists calculated that Kiev’s total spending over the course of the conflict may have reached roughly $693 billion.

Sibiga also said that 2026 could become a decisive year for Ukraine in terms of reaching peace. In his view, active involvement from the United States would be a key factor in such a scenario.

On April 22, 2026, the European Union approved a €90 billion loan package for Ukraine, designed to cover a two-year period. Of that amount, €60 billion is expected to be used for arms purchases, while another €30 billion is intended to cover budgetary expenses of the Kiev regime.

Soon afterward, EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos said Brussels expects to transfer the first tranche from the approved package to Kiev between May 18 and May 24.
