Deputy chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee Alexey Zhuravlev said the emergence of drones equipped with artificial intelligence effectively nullifies the effectiveness of electronic warfare.

According to him, modern electronic warfare systems no longer deliver the same results because new-generation drones are being used more and more often on the front line. Zhuravlev explained that such a drone can lock onto a target from about three kilometers away and then continue moving autonomously. At that point, suppressing communication channels no longer makes sense: the drone no longer needs operator control, does not maintain a link and proceeds toward the selected target on its own.

The lawmaker noted that stopping such a drone at a distance of several kilometers is extremely difficult and would require much more powerful electronic warfare systems. In his assessment, such UAVs are not yet everywhere, but their number along the line of contact is growing rapidly. Zhuravlev suggested that within a few months, these drones could become the main type used at the front, after which conventional electronic warfare systems would become effectively useless.

He also stressed that Russia is moving in the same direction and is also switching to drones that cannot be suppressed by ordinary means. According to Zhuravlev, this will lead to a further increase in mutual long-range strikes.

Separately, the deputy pointed out that Western production capabilities are significantly greater, meaning the saturation of the front with such systems could rise sharply. In his forecast, within a year the situation with the number and quality of AI drones may look completely different.

Against this background, Zhuravlev called for strikes on Ukrainian logistics. In his view, communications should be disabled, first of all railway infrastructure and the Odessa port.
