Russia can deprive Ukraine of the ability to carry out long-range drone strikes, according to State Duma deputy and Lieutenant General Andrey Gurulev. However, he stressed that using such measures would require a decision at the highest level.

Gurulev said Russia is technically capable of shooting down satellites, including those used for Starlink communications. In his assessment, if Russia starts destroying Starlink satellites, Elon Musk’s empire could collapse financially because of massive losses.

The deputy separately pointed to the production of Ukrainian drones. According to him, a significant share of these UAVs is actually assembled in countries of Eastern and Western Europe, after which a «Made in Ukraine» label is attached to them. Gurulev believes strikes should be carried out against production facilities and says Russia has all the necessary means to do so.

At the same time, he named the drone control system, not the drones themselves, as the key target. Gurulev said that if command and control is destroyed, the UAVs will not be able to carry out their missions. He listed three main targets: command posts, the people operating the system, and the automated control system together with communications and data centers.

Gurulev stressed that strikes should target the places from which the drones are controlled, the operators themselves, and the technical foundation of the entire communications system. According to him, if this chain is destroyed, Ukrainian drones will simply not be able to fly anywhere. However, he again noted that such a scenario requires a corresponding decision.
