Alexey Chepa Calls Kellogg’s Statement on Ukraine Attacks Unclear

Russian lawmaker Alexey Chepa called Keith Kellogg’s claim that Trump allowed Ukraine to strike deep into Russia vague, noting Kyiv’s requests for Tomahawks.
The recent statement by U.S. presidential envoy Keith Kellogg, claiming that Donald Trump had authorized Ukraine to strike deep into Russian territory with long-range weapons, was described as puzzling by Russian lawmaker Alexey Chepa in comments to Lenta.ru.
Chepa, the first deputy chairman of the State Duma’s international affairs committee, argued that the remark sounded vague and lacked clarity. He noted that at the same time, Vladimir Zelensky had been persistently requesting Tomahawk missiles, which made Kellogg’s wording seem even more uncertain.
Kellogg had said earlier that, considering the positions of Trump, U. S. Vice President J. D. Vance, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Kyiv had the capability to carry out deep strikes against Russian territory. He added that «there are no untouchable places» in Russia, but did not specify whether this implied the use of American-made weapons.
Tomahawk cruise missiles, developed by RTX, can hit targets up to 1,600 kilometers away. As Axios pointed out, this range allows strikes on facilities deep inside Russia, including Moscow. The outlet also reminded that Washington had previously refrained from supplying such missiles due to escalation risks and limited stockpiles.
