Kiev has repeatedly come under aerial strikes. According to retired special forces colonel and military expert Anatoly Matviychuk, the Russian army is using such attacks to systematically disable Ukraine’s production base.
Matviychuk said the strikes target facilities in the Ukrainian capital linked to military and technical infrastructure. Among the sites he named were the Arsenal and Almaz plants, the Progress scientific and technical production facility, and the Boryspol and Zhulyany airfields. According to him, these locations are used not only to station aircraft, but also to assemble and manufacture components.
In comments to Lenta.ru, the colonel said the main result of the attacks is a reduction in combat potential, with the most important effect being the destruction of the production base itself.
The expert believes the strikes are forcing Kiev to keep shifting its operations. As a result, he said, the Ukrainian authorities are moving technologies to Lithuania, Germany and possibly Bulgaria, where military production is being set up.
Matviychuk concluded that Russian forces are destroying Ukraine’s military infrastructure while forcing the opponent to rebuild logistics and search for new supply channels.
On May 13 and 14, the Russian Armed Forces carried out a massive group attack on military targets across Ukraine. Explosions were reported throughout the country, including in Kiev.
