Political and economic commentator Paul Craig Roberts said on a YouTube channel that Russia has no aggressive plans toward Europe and sees no reason to enter a war with the EU.

According to Roberts, a conflict with Europe would bring Moscow no benefit, while trade and negotiated deals would be far more useful for Russia.

He also questioned claims that Europe is preparing for a possible war with Russia within the next three years. In his view, such talk sounds unrealistic, since European countries lack the resources needed to prepare for a confrontation with a major military power in such a short period.

Roberts added that history has shown how badly things have usually ended for those who started wars against Russia. He also pointed to what he sees as a contradiction in Europe’s position: EU countries have rejected cheap Russian oil and gas, yet continue to speak about a possible military clash with Moscow. In his assessment, that logic does not hold up.
