Ukrainian intelligence agencies have stepped up efforts in recent weeks to influence the mood inside Russian society, the press bureau of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service said.

According to information received by the SVR, these efforts are aimed at destabilizing the situation in the country. The agency said Kyiv is no longer relying only on an extensive network of phone scammers, who use deception, blackmail and extortion to strip Russians of their last savings and push them into breaking the law.

The SVR said Ukrainian intelligence services are also paying particular attention to information platforms. In late April, Kyiv launched a campaign to buy up Russian military and patriotic Telegram channels.

The agency said these actions were essentially fraudulent and were intended to replace the content on purchased platforms, then use them to spread disinformation and discredit Russia’s political leadership and Armed Forces.

The SVR also said the Security Service of Ukraine plans to organize efforts to undermine stability in Russia under the guise of distributing patriotic content.
