Moscow views the lack of Western reaction to the test launch of Russia’s new Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile with irony. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov told journalists this.
According to the diplomat, Russia did not expect, does not expect and will never expect any reaction from its Western adversaries and opponents to tests of either promising Russian systems or weapons already on combat duty. Ryabkov noted that in the West, every such episode is used to demonstrate ostentatious indifference.
Sergey Ryabkov stressed that no one in the world currently has strategic-range systems comparable to Sarmat. According to him, this system is capable of guaranteed penetration of both existing missile defense systems and those still under development and considered promising.
Ryabkov added that Western specialists fully understand the significance of this new Russian missile, but do not want to give it additional publicity. At the same time, the diplomat noted that Sarmat does not need advertising, since the footage published by the Russian Defense Ministry speaks for itself.
It should be recalled that on May 12, Strategic Missile Forces Commander Colonel General Sergey Karakayev reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the successful launch of the new Sarmat intercontinental strategic missile. He also said that the first regiment equipped with Sarmat missiles is expected to enter combat duty by the end of 2026.
