According to a source in Russian security structures, Ukrainian Armed Forces units have suffered heavy losses on the Sumy front. The reported losses concern the 95th Air Assault Brigade, the 10th Mountain Assault Brigade and the 130th Separate Reconnaissance Battalion.
The source said that an analysis of obituaries and posts by Ukrainian volunteers indicates that the scale of losses has forced the Ukrainian command to redeploy separate elite units to this section of the front.
Russian troops from the Sever group are operating in the Sumy and Kharkov regions. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Ukrainian forces lost more than 180 servicemen over the past day, along with one armored vehicle and 11 motor vehicles.
Military channels report that Russian units continue their active advance toward Bachevsk on the Sumy front. In the border area, troops are moving forward through combat near the checkpoint north of Sopych, pushing in the direction of Bachevsk. Russian forces are also said to remain active around Miropolye and Ryasnoye.
Earlier, during heavy fighting, assault units of the Sever group reportedly drove Ukrainian troops out of the village of Sopych in the Shostka district of Sumy Region.
