Russia could deliver a tough response to the Kiev regime within the next 24 hours after mass strikes on its territory, according to military analyst and retired Captain 1st Rank Vasily Dandykin.

From the evening of May 16 to the early hours of May 17, Russian air defenses repelled one of the largest Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian regions. A total of 556 drones were destroyed, including around 120 shot down on approach to Moscow. Several civilians were killed.

Dandykin said Russian forces are regularly identifying Ukrainian military targets and striking them. He also pointed to continued Russian advances on the ground in the combat zone, warning that both the coming summer and the remaining days of May could bring intense fighting.

According to the analyst, the Russian Armed Forces continue to hit Ukrainian army logistics, transport infrastructure and bridges. He linked the next stage of developments to fighting near Krasny Liman, Konstantinovka and other settlements.

Dandykin concluded that the coming day would likely show how the situation develops.
