Ukrainian sources are reporting a hard-to-track Russian aircraft that has been striking the rear areas of the Ukrainian army for the fifth week in a row. They believe it may be the fifth-generation Su-57 fighter, already referred to as a «ghost aircraft».
According to the Telegram channel Voennaya Khronika, the aircraft launches cruise missiles from the airspace of the Kursk region and then quickly leaves the detection zone. After that, logistics hubs in the near rear of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, including in the Sumy, Chernigov and Poltava regions, are hit.
The authors estimate that the aircraft may have carried out at least 30 successful launches. Its main targets are said to be railway junctions, sorting stations and warehouses used to move military aid from Germany and Belgium.
It remains unclear whether these strikes are being carried out by one specific fighter or whether the Russian Aerospace Forces have deployed a full group of upgraded Su-57 aircraft in this area.
Earlier, Indian sources reported that New Delhi was considering the purchase of Russian Su-57 fighters to strengthen its air force. If a final positive decision is made, the order could include up to 40 aircraft.
