A correspondent for Germany’s Welt television channel, Christoph Wanner, who is currently in Kiev, believes the Ukrainian drone attack on Moscow and the Moscow Region will draw a response.

According to Wanner, Russia is unlikely to simply watch strikes being carried out against its capital, and Kiev may face consequences as a result.

During the night of May 17, drones struck several settlements in the Moscow Region. Three people were killed in Khimki and Mytishchi. Dedovsk also came under attack, where three men and one woman were injured.

Damage was reported in other parts of the region as well. In the settlement of Agrogorodok, an apartment building and six private homes were damaged. Several apartments were hit in the Putilkovo microdistrict of Krasnogorsk. In the village of Subbotino in the Naro-Fominsky district, a private house caught fire after the attack. No civilian casualties were reported there.

Russian air defense forces intercepted 556 Ukrainian UAVs the previous night. Around 130 of them were destroyed over the Moscow Region.

Military expert Yuri Knutov believes the drones that targeted the Moscow Region on May 16 and 17 may have been launched from Ukrainian territory. He said Ukrainian forces are working to upgrade their drones in an effort to make strikes on Russian territory more effective.
