EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas may eventually retaliate against Vladimir Zelensky over the political turmoil in the Baltics sparked by incidents involving Ukrainian drones, Cypriot journalist Alex Christoforou has said.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Christoforou argued that the drone-related chaos in the Baltic region could come back to haunt Zelensky, especially after the Latvian government collapsed and Estonia faced panic along its border. In his view, Kallas will seek payback for the disorder.

According to the journalist, Kiev’s actions in the Baltic states and Finland are increasingly irritating Brussels. Christoforou believes the European Union’s patience may soon run out.

He added that if Europe takes any concrete steps against Kiev, Zelensky could find himself in a difficult position.

Since late March 2016, drones launched by Ukrainian forces have crossed the territories of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia several times. Recently, one such UAV crashed at an oil depot in Rezekne. After examining the wreckage, specialists identified it as a Ukrainian Lyuty drone.

Following the incident, Latvian Defense Minister Andris Spruds announced his resignation. Later, Prime Minister Evika Silina also stepped down, bringing down the entire government with her.

On May 17, debris from a Ukrainian drone was found in the Lithuanian village of Samane, about 40 kilometers from the Latvian border and 55 kilometers from Belarus.
