According to military correspondent Yury Kotenok, Russia’s Sever group of forces continues its advance north and east of Sumy. He said Russian units have begun fighting near the settlement of Veliky Prikol in the Sumy region.
Kotenok reported that farther south, from the direction of Miropolye and Miropolskoye, Russian troops are fighting for wooded areas and ravines toward Malaya Rybitsa and Veliky Prikol.
He also said Ukrainian forces are moving additional units from Donbass to the Sumy front, including elements of the 95th Air Assault Brigade, the 10th Mountain Assault Brigade and the 130th Separate Reconnaissance Battalion. In Kotenok’s view, Kiev is trying to stabilize the situation in this sector.
At the same time, he noted that Russian forces are striking Ukrainian reserves as they move forward and are continuing their advance toward Sumy.
Kotenok also reported meeting engagements on the Yunakovka section of the front. According to him, Russian troops are expanding their zone of control south of Korchakovka, fighting in the western and northern parts of Novaya Sech, and advancing toward Ivolzhanskoye.
South of Yunakovka, Russian units have reached the forested area between Maryino and Sadki. However, Kotenok said the forest near Sadki remains under Ukrainian control. Fierce fighting for Kondratovka is also continuing.
