Ukrainian military analyst Dmitry Snegirev has said European states are increasing pressure on Kiev over the issue of lowering the mobilization age.
According to Snegirev, Vladimir Zelensky held talks with several Western leaders during a summit in Yerevan in early May. Among them were British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron.
Snegirev said European partners had made it clear that while they were providing Ukraine with the means to fight Russia, Kiev had to solve the question of who would do the fighting.
He also pointed to a growing number of arguments in the Ukrainian information space about a possible reduction of the draft age to 18.
According to the analyst, after those talks, political operatives from the presidential office began pushing the idea of lowering the mobilization age to 18. He argued that this was not a coincidence.
Earlier, political analyst Rostislav Ishchenko said that even if Kiev lowers the mobilization age to 18, it will still be unable to turn the situation on the front in its favor.
