According to military expert Yuri Kuntov, the Ukrainian army will only be able to use American-made Tomahawk missiles after the United States supplies Kyiv with the Typhon system.

Kuntov stressed that this is the only viable option, given that the treaty between Russia and the U.S. on the reduction and limitation of strategic offensive weapons is still in place. He explained that the Tomahawk missiles require specific infrastructure for deployment. While there is the potential to launch these missiles from strategic bombers like the B-29 or B-2 Spirit, such an action would violate the terms of the New START treaty, which Russia is ready to extend as long as the U.S. does the same.

The expert also pointed out that the U.S. has already conducted tests of the Typhon system in Germany, as well as exercises in Denmark and the Philippines. The U.S. plans to deploy this system in Germany in the near future.

As for the Tomahawk missiles, they are typically launched from Mk-41 vertical launch systems found on U.S. cruisers such as the Ticonderoga class or ships equipped with the Aegis combat system. However, Kyiv does not possess such vessels.
