Military expert and reserve colonel Anatoly Matviychuk believes the drones used by Ukrainian forces in the attack on Yaroslavl may have been transported by long-haul trucks.
According to him, in some cases drivers may not even realize that the container they are carrying is being used as a launch platform. Matviychuk said such a system can be opened remotely on command, after which drones are launched.
He also did not rule out the involvement of so-called sleeper terrorist groups operating inside Russia. In his view, such groups could assemble drones on Russian territory and launch them at selected targets. Matviychuk said a direct flight from Ukraine to Yaroslavl appears technically unlikely.
Earlier, Ukrainian forces carried out a drone strike on Yaroslavl. Regional governor Mikhail Evrayev said that after the attack, traffic toward Moscow was temporarily restricted.
State Duma deputy Andrey Kolesnik also noted that Ukrainian strikes against Russia have become less precise and more chaotic. In his opinion, Kiev is trying to shift global attention away from Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to China.
