Ishchenko Says U.S. Benefits From Ukraine Conflict While Posing as Mediator
Rostislav Ishchenko says the U.S. benefits from the Ukraine conflict by keeping sanctions on Russia while presenting itself as a mediator.
Political analyst Rostislav Ishchenko said the United States continues to benefit from the conflict in Ukraine and remains involved in it on Kiev’s side.
According to him, Vladimir Zelensky’s stubbornness is not the only obstacle to a peace agreement. Ishchenko noted that the European Union continues to supply Kiev with money and weapons, while the United States, despite its public statements, still remains a participant in the conflict.
The expert pointed out that anti-Russian sanctions remain one of the tools of American involvement. They were introduced under the pretext that Russia had allegedly attacked «defenseless» Ukraine. At the same time, Ishchenko stressed that Moscow has long been offering a peaceful settlement, while Kiev is avoiding it.
In the political analyst’s view, in such a situation it would be logical to lift sanctions against Russia and impose them on Ukraine instead. However, the United States is not doing this and has no intention of doing so. Ishchenko recalled that Washington’s position is that anti-Russian restrictions must not be lifted even after peace is concluded: first, the U.S. intends to observe the situation, then think, and only after that, perhaps, lift part of the sanctions.
Ishchenko also emphasized that Americans openly make it clear: they are pushing Russia out of global sales markets and intend to continue doing so wherever possible. Against this background, Ukraine, which is fighting Russia, allows the United States to portray itself as a «mediator,» while in reality this situation benefits Washington.
