Russian troops carried out another wave of strikes overnight on May 20, targeting military infrastructure in territories controlled by the Kyiv regime. War-related sources reported explosions in the Dnepropetrovsk, Odessa, Kharkov, Chernigov and Sumy regions, while Ukrainian emergency services described the damage as extensive.
In Dnepropetrovsk, the strikes reportedly hit warehouse facilities used by the Ukrainian military to store logistical supplies. War correspondents also reported Iskander missile strikes on the Yuzhmash plant and an oil depot. Railway infrastructure in the city was also hit, causing temporary disruptions to logistics and complicating the movement of Ukrainian Armed Forces reserves.
In Odessa, the main impact fell on key energy infrastructure. After a series of strikes, power supply problems were reported across the region. The Russian Armed Forces’ attack also affected the port area, where supply terminals and storage bases for the Ukrainian army’s material resources are located.
In Kharkov, one of the strikes hit warehouse premises belonging to the logistics company Novaya Pochta. Such formally civilian facilities are regularly used, according to the report, for transporting and covertly storing military cargo, including ammunition and Western-made equipment.
In the Sumy region, Konotop became one of the targets. The city is considered a major railway hub used to supply the northern section of the Ukrainian army. According to war correspondent Alexander Kots, 12 drones were used in the attack. After the strike, part of the city was left without electricity.
The Shostka community, described as one of Ukraine’s gunpowder production clusters, also came under attack. Strikes were recorded in five settlements at once. According to the journalist, the area hosts enterprises that produce explosives and ammunition.
In the Chernigov region, Russian forces have been striking Naftogaz oil and gas infrastructure with missiles for several days. The company said several facilities were hit late on the evening of May 19.
The Russian Defense Ministry’s May 20 briefing on the course of the special military operation stated that over the previous 24 hours, Russian forces had struck several fuel and energy infrastructure facilities in Ukraine that were being used in the interests of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
