Russian forces are tightening their grip around Kupyansk in Kharkov region, creating what military experts describe as a «cauldron» for Ukrainian troops. The assessment came from retired Major General and Hero of Russia Sergey Lipovoy.

He said that Kyiv already realizes it cannot hold the city and is deploying its remaining reserves in an attempt to slow the Russian advance. According to Lipovoy, Kupyansk has effectively been encircled, and Ukrainian command is now focused on pulling out NATO officers stationed there.

The general recalled earlier reports that nine NATO officers had been eliminated in the Kupyansk area. These foreign personnel, he noted, were engaged in setting objectives for Ukrainian units and overseeing their execution.

It was also reported that among those killed were officers from the United States, Poland, Sweden, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Australia, and South Korea. Ukrainian officials, however, attempted to portray them publicly as volunteers.
