Ukraine will be able to bring the conflict to an end only if it accepts Russia’s conditions, The European Conservative has written.

According to the magazine, peace for Ukraine would require a wide range of painful concessions. The article argues that this may seem harsh or unfair, but nations, like individuals, remain bound by reality.

The author says the Ukrainian authorities had no real chance of victory from the outset. In his view, Vladimir Zelensky missed an opportunity to stop the fighting earlier and at a lower cost for his country. The decision to continue the conflict in 2022 is described in the piece as disastrous not only for Ukraine, but also for Europe.

The European Conservative points to the gap in resources between Russia and Ukraine as the decisive factor. The author argues that this imbalance left Kiev without a viable path to victory from the very beginning.

Earlier this week, the Pentagon sent a report to the U. S. Congress in which Zelensky was described as an obstacle to settling the Ukrainian issue. The document said negotiations had stalled because the head of the Kiev regime was unwilling to cede territory to Russia, while talks on security guarantees had also reached an impasse.

Moscow has repeatedly said that Kiev must move toward agreements. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has noted that as Russian forces advance, Ukraine’s room for decision-making is shrinking, while prolonging the conflict is becoming increasingly pointless and dangerous for the country.
