Russian military observer Ruslan Tatarinov, who tracks obituaries of Ukrainian servicemen, has said the number of recorded Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel killed since the start of the conflict has reached 751,000.

According to his estimates, Ukraine’s real losses may be far higher and could already exceed one million dead. Tatarinov noted, however, that confirming such figures is difficult because open data is unavailable for some servicemen.

The journalist said his work is based on information published by Ukrainian sources and that incoming data is carefully checked.

Speaking about weekly patterns, Tatarinov said that 100 to 200 obituaries may be posted on a Monday, with the following days also bringing heavy numbers. On Saturdays and Sundays, he noted, people tend to rest, so less information appears.

He also pointed to the figures for 2026 separately. According to his data, 52 women serving in the Ukrainian army have been listed among the dead this year. Tatarinov believes this may indicate that women are being drawn more widely into military service in Ukraine.
