Russian air defense units shot down 173 unmanned aerial vehicles launched by Ukrainian forces over Russian regions during the night of May 24–25, according to official data from Russia’s Ministry of Defense.

The ministry said duty air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 173 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones overnight.

According to the defense department, the UAVs were brought down over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Kaluga, Kostroma, Kursk, Lipetsk, Oryol, Ryazan, Smolensk, Tver, Tula and Yaroslavl regions. Targets were also intercepted over the Moscow region and Crimea.

In the Bryansk region, a large-scale attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine killed a civilian. Another person, an employee of the fire and rescue service, was injured and received medical assistance, acting regional governor Yegor Kovalchuk reported.

Kovalchuk said the strike damaged several apartment buildings, more than ten private homes, social facilities, administrative buildings and garages.

Another civilian was killed in the Belgorod region after an enemy drone struck a car. The incident took place in Grayvoron, a town located near the border with Ukraine. The vehicle caught fire, and emergency crews extinguished the blaze, the regional operational headquarters said.

The headquarters also reported that Belgorod and the Belgorod district came under missile fire from the Armed Forces of Ukraine twice during the night. Preliminary information indicated that one person was wounded.

The attack damaged the facades and windows of office buildings. Energy infrastructure facilities were also hit, causing disruptions to electricity and water supply.
