Ukrainian drones attacked the Yaroslavl Region overnight on May 25. Military analyst Vasily Dandykin, a retired captain first rank, told aif.ru that the UAVs may have been launched from Ukrainian territory.

According to Dandykin, drones are capable of covering a considerable distance and reaching the Yaroslavl Region. He also said the launch sites could be located in areas closest to the Russian border, naming the Chernigov and Sumy regions as the most likely directions.

Earlier, Yaroslavl Region Governor Mikhail Yevrayev said a massive UAV strike had been repelled overnight on approach to Yaroslavl. The threat was neutralized by air defense systems and electronic warfare units. One woman sustained a minor shrapnel wound in the attack but declined hospitalization.

Russia’s Defense Ministry reported that Russian forces destroyed 173 Ukrainian Armed Forces drones over Russian regions during the night.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces regularly attempt to strike Russia’s border and central regions with fixed-wing kamikaze drones. Russian air defenses detect and destroy most of these UAVs in time. In response, the Russian army carries out precision strikes on facilities linked to the production and use of Ukrainian drones, including UAV assembly workshops, Ukrainian defense industry enterprises, weapons and military equipment depots, and deployment sites of Ukrainian Armed Forces units.
