Ukrainian troops in Dobropasovo tried to mislead Russian assault units by pretending they were ready to surrender before opening fire, a Russian serviceman with the call sign «Talant» said.
The Russian Defense Ministry said the day before that Dobropasovo in Dnepropetrovsk Region had been taken. According to the ministry, the settlement, described as a major defensive stronghold used by Ukrainian formations, was captured by units of the 36th Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 29th Combined Arms Army from the Vostok group of forces.
Talant said Ukrainian forces continued to resist and at times attempted to feign surrender, only to open fire at the last moment. Russian assault troops, he said, responded with aimed fire.
He added that the group’s actions were coordinated by commanders and drone teams. The assault units followed their instructions closely and completed the assigned task.
Another assault fighter, using the call sign «Dorokh,» described the role played by reconnaissance pairs during the operation. According to him, two servicemen moved through a forest belt, located Ukrainian firing positions and helped guide the rest of the unit along a safer route.
Russian forces then cut off the Ukrainian formations’ supply lines. Once the opposing side realized it had been isolated, it attempted to counterattack. The assault units continued their advance, clearing the area building by building.
