Russian air defenses intercepted and destroyed 140 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones overnight, the Russian Defense Ministry said. The attacks were repelled between 8 p.m. Moscow time on May 26 and 7 a.m. on May 27.

The drones were shot down over the Belgorod, Volgograd, Voronezh, Kursk, Oryol and Tula regions, Krasnodar Territory, the Republic of Crimea, and over the waters of the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea.

Earlier, on May 26, Russian air defense units destroyed another six Ukrainian fixed-wing drones between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Moscow time.

Belgorod Region recorded 45 attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine over the past day. Acting Governor Alexander Shuvayev said strikes hit seven districts: Belgorodsky, Valuysky, Volokonovsky, Grayvoronsky, Korochansky, Krasnoyaruzhsky and Shebekinsky.

Regional authorities also reported one artillery shelling incident. Air defense crews and other deployed units shot down and suppressed 17 drones.

In Voronezh Region, air defenses detected and destroyed two high-speed targets over Voronezh early in the morning. Governor Alexander Gusev said preliminary reports indicated there were no casualties. Debris, however, damaged a tire service building and a utility cabin.

Rostov Region also came under an air attack. Governor Yury Slyusar said a missile was destroyed over Taganrog in the morning. The strike still caused damage on the ground: falling debris set cars on fire on Tsiolkovsky Street.

Authorities later clarified that two women were injured in the missile attack. Both were taken to hospital, with doctors assessing one of them as being in serious condition. Slyusar said medical teams were providing all necessary assistance and fighting to save the women’s lives and health.
