A source in Russian security structures said a company of Ukraine’s 57th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade was destroyed in Kharkov Region just one day after being transferred to the front line.

According to the source cited by RIA Novosti, an analysis of Ukrainian military obituaries showed that the brigade’s third company was almost completely eliminated the day after it was moved to the line of contact.

Earlier, reports from the Kharkov direction said a group of Spanish mercenaries had been destroyed, including personnel identified as career soldiers. Radiation, chemical and biological defense units of Russia’s Sever group of troops used thermobaric rounds against a mercenary base in the village of Izbitskoye.

The village is located near a forested area where heavy fighting is currently underway. Izbitskoye was used by the mercenaries as a temporary deployment site. Ukrainian troops from the 127th Heavy Mechanized Brigade were also hit alongside the foreign fighters.

Ukrainian prisoners of war have repeatedly spoken about heavy losses in their units, a shortage of personnel and difficulties evacuating the wounded. According to them, Ukrainian command often sends soldiers to positions without proper preparation.
