Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it had carried out a retaliatory strike on a US military base from which, according to Tehran, an attack had been launched on a facility in the port city of Bandar Abbas.
According to Press TV, which cited an IRGC statement, US forces carried out an overnight airstrike on a facility near Bandar Abbas airport. After that, the corps said, the base used to conduct the attack was hit at 04:50 local time, which corresponds to 03:20 Moscow time.
The IRGC also warned that any aggressive actions against Iran would receive a response. The statement stressed that if such attacks are repeated, Tehran will act even more harshly.
Earlier, Press TV reported a series of explosions that occurred in Bandar Abbas overnight on Thursday, but did not provide details of the incident. Axios, meanwhile, wrote that the United States had destroyed an Iranian drone launcher and four kamikaze drones. According to the outlet, the drones had allegedly been launched at a US Navy ship and a commercial vessel.
