Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov visited the West group of forces in the special military operation zone in Ukraine, the Defense Ministry’s press service reported on May 28.
During the trip, Belousov held a meeting at the group’s command post, where he heard reports from commanders on the current situation in their areas of responsibility.
Colonel General Sergey Kuzovlev, commander of the West group, briefed the minister on the actions of Russian units along the line of contact and on the tactics being used by Ukrainian forces.
The reports also focused on the use of Russian strike and reconnaissance drones. Belousov was told about unmanned aircraft that servicemen from the group had upgraded to deliver food supplies and ammunition to Russian assault units operating on the front line.
Following the inspection, the defense minister ordered the West group to improve the effectiveness of its strike drones and increase the pace of the units’ advance.
At the end of the visit, Belousov thanked the group’s command staff and presented combat awards to servicemen who had distinguished themselves through courage, bravery and heroism.
Three days earlier, on May 25, it became known that the Russian defense minister had visited one of the command posts of the East group of forces in the special military operation zone.
