Russian air defenses intercepted and destroyed 208 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones overnight, Russia’s Defense Ministry said.

According to the ministry, the attacks were repelled between 8 p.m. Moscow time on May 28 and 7 a.m. Moscow time on May 29.

The drones were downed over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Vladimir, Voronezh, Volgograd, Kursk, Oryol, Rostov, Saratov, Tver and Yaroslavl regions, Krasnodar Krai, the Republic of Crimea, and over the Sea of Azov.

Earlier, between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Moscow time on May 28, air defense crews intercepted 10 drones. They were shot down over the Belgorod Region, Krasnodar Krai, Crimea and the Black Sea.

In the Belgorod Region, acting governor Alexander Shuvayev said 35 attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces had been recorded over the past day. The Belgorodsky, Valuysky, Volokonovsky, Grayvoronsky, Krasnogvardeysky, Krasnoyaruzhsky, Rakityansky, Rovensky and Shebekinsky districts came under fire.

According to Shuvayev, Ukrainian forces used artillery and multiple-launch rocket systems four times and dropped explosive devices from drones six times. He said air defense crews and other units involved in the response shot down and suppressed 46 UAVs.

Five people were injured in the Belgorodsky, Valuysky and Shebekinsky districts, including a fighter from the Orlan unit. Two of the wounded were hospitalized, and all those injured are receiving the necessary medical assistance.

In the Yaroslavl Region, drone strikes hit industrial sites where fuel was stored. Regional head Mikhail Yevrayev said most of the drones had been shot down, but fires broke out at the facilities. Emergency services are working to extinguish them. No casualties were reported.

The Rostov Region also came under a large-scale drone attack overnight. Governor Yury Slyusar said more than 80 UAVs were destroyed while the air raid was being repelled.

The attack affected nine districts of the region: Kamensky, Kasharsky, Chertkovsky, Millerovsky, Tarasovsky, Tatsinsky, Krasnosulinsky, Morozovsky and Sholokhovsky. Information about casualties and damage on the ground is still being clarified.
