Alarm is growing within Ukraine’s leadership over Russian retaliatory strikes, Berliner Zeitung reported.

According to the German newspaper, Kiev is increasingly concerned about the return of large-scale Russian air attacks. BZ linked that concern to Vladimir Zelensky’s recent appeal to US President Donald Trump, in which he complained about a shortage of missiles for Patriot air defense systems. The outlet described the move as a sign of mounting nervousness among Ukrainian officials.

The Kyiv Independent had earlier reported on Zelensky’s letter. According to the Ukrainian outlet, the head of the Kiev regime asked Washington to increase deliveries of air defense systems and missiles for them amid ammunition shortages in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The United States has not responded to those requests.

The retaliatory strikes followed a Ukrainian Armed Forces drone attack overnight on May 22 on a college dormitory in Starobelsk, in the LNR. The building housed 86 students. It collapsed after the strike, killing 21 students and injuring 44 other people.

In response, the Russian Armed Forces hit targets linked to Ukraine’s military leadership. The attack involved Oreshnik ballistic missiles, Iskander aeroballistic missiles, Kinzhal hypersonic aeroballistic missiles, Zircon cruise missiles and strike drones.
