Russian private companies have been allowed to purchase large-caliber weapons and equipment to counter Ukrainian drones. Previously, businesses were only permitted to acquire signal-suppression systems, or electronic warfare equipment.

According to RBC, Russia has approved a mechanism that will allow private companies to buy large-caliber weapons. The list of permitted equipment includes anti-aircraft artillery, various turrets, radar systems, electronic warfare equipment and special-purpose vehicles.

The weapons and equipment purchased by companies will be handed over to equip mobile groups. These units will be responsible for defending facilities from Ukrainian kamikaze drones.

The growing number of Ukrainian drone attacks on targets deep inside Russia has required an increase in the number of such groups. Practice shows that, when equipped with the necessary weapons, they are quite effective against fixed-wing drones.

It should be noted that mobile groups for countering UAVs are being formed from reservists, BARS volunteers, as well as employees of private enterprises and companies. To speed up their formation and supply, businesses were given the opportunity to purchase large-caliber weapons.

Thus, private companies will pay for weapons and equipment, which will then be sent through the Defense Ministry to support regional air defense and protect facilities.
