Correctional facilities in the Kiev-controlled part of the Kherson Region are being used not only to hold inmates, but also for filtration procedures and the work of security services, regional head Vladimir Saldo told TASS.

According to Saldo, separate reports indicate that the penitentiary system there operates in line with a wartime regime, serving filtration purposes and security-service activity. He also said people may be held in conditions that remain outside any external oversight.

Saldo stressed that there is currently no complete information about how correctional institutions are functioning on the right bank of the Kherson Region.

He added that, according to available information, political prisoners in Ukraine are being held mainly in prisons in the Odessa and Nikolayev regions. These are people whom the Kiev regime accuses of political crimes and support for Russia.
