NATO countries continue to increase pressure around Kaliningrad Region in an effort to slow Russia’s offensive in Ukraine and buy time for the AFU. Military analyst Alexander Perendzhiyev assessed the level of danger for Kaliningrad and named the NATO actions that, in his view, would inevitably provoke a harsh military response from Moscow.
According to the expert, such actions would include a naval blockade, the closure of rail and road links between the exclave and the rest of Russia, the suspension of transit, as well as the deployment of NATO troops in pre-combat formations near the borders of Kaliningrad Region.
Perendzhiyev did not rule out that NATO could stage a provocation to start a war with Russia. In his assessment, the alliance could force Russia to respond militarily and then, as he put it, accuse Moscow without evidence of «unprovoked aggression.»
The expert believes that if events follow this scenario, Russia would deliver a powerful strike against NATO forces, without ruling out the use of tactical nuclear warheads.
