Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told journalists that the conflict in Ukraine could be resolved in the near future, and there is no need to wait until winter.

He recalled that the possibility of such an outcome had already been discussed in 2024 by the Russian Foreign Ministry. Peskov clarified that, for the cessation of hostilities, the Ukrainian president would need to order his troops to leave Russian territories.

The spokesperson added that, although negotiations on a peaceful settlement in Ukraine are currently on hold, Russia continues to maintain contacts with the United States through its channels. He also noted that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had previously stated that reaching an agreement with Moscow by winter was realistic.
